Training for the Moments That Matter: Our Team Completes CPR Training

09/2026 When an emergency happens, every second matters. That’s why our veterinary technicians recently participated in hands-on CPR training focused on providing life-saving care to our canine patients.

Throughout the training, each technician had the opportunity to practice chest compressions and work through the proper techniques used during canine CPR. Hands-on practice allows our team to build confidence and develop the muscle memory needed to respond quickly when faced with a critical situation.

But CPR isn’t just about knowing the steps it’s also about working together.

Our technicians were divided into teams of four to participate in live emergency scenarios. Each team worked through realistic situations that challenged them to communicate clearly, delegate responsibilities, make quick decisions, and work together under pressure.

These scenarios reinforced an important part of emergency medicine: effective teamwork and clear communication can make a significant difference. In a high-stress situation, clearly communicating what is happening, what needs to be done, and who is responsible for each task helps keep everyone on the same page while reducing the potential for accidents and mistakes.

Emergency situations can be fast-paced and stressful, making it especially important for every team member to understand their role and communicate effectively. Practicing these skills in a controlled environment allows our technicians to learn from one another and become more prepared to respond as a team when it matters most.

We’re proud of our technicians for taking the time to continue developing their skills and preparing for the unexpected. Ongoing training helps ensure that our team is ready to respond when our patients need us most.

At Belton Veterinary Clinic, we’re committed to continuing education and providing our team with the knowledge, skills, and teamwork needed to provide the best possible care for our patients.
